Warm blackberries with a cake-like topping make Blackberry Slump a "Berry favorite" dessert. Add vanilla ice cream and you're in heaven.
Ingredients
4heaping cupsblackberries or a mixture of berries (about 1 ½ pounds)
1cupsugar, divided
1cupall-purpose flour
1 ½teaspoonsbaking powder
¼teaspoonsalt
¾cupwhole milk
3tablespoonsunsalted butter, melted
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place rack in the center of the oven. Grease a 5- to 6-cup baking dish or 9-inch pie plate.
Place the berries in the dish. Sprinkle with ½ cup sugar.
Pour the remaining dry ingredients into a medium bowl. Add the milk, melted butter, and remaining ½ cup sugar. Mix with a rubber spatula just until the wet and dry ingredients are incorporated.
Drop spoonfuls of batter on the berries. The batter does not need to completely cover the berries. Bake 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Serve while warm with vanilla ice cream.
