A warm, delicious cheesy dip surrounded by buttery parmesan rolls, baked in a cast iron skillet. Using frozen bread dough makes assembly super simple!
Ingredients
16piecesfrozen dinner roll dough, such as Rhodes brand dough
3tablespoonsunsalted butter, melted
2tablespoonsgrated Parmesan cheese, such as Kraft (in the green shaker bottle)
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2cups(8 ounces) grated sharp cheddar cheese
2cups(8 ounces) grated mozzarella cheese
1cupchicken broth
2teaspoonsMrs. Dash or spice blend of your choice
Instructions
Line the edges of a seasoned 12-inch cast iron skillet with frozen roll dough and place in a warm area to rise.
In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and mix together slowly until combined.
30 minutes before the rolls are ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place rack in the center of the oven.
When the dough has risen, generously brush with melted butter. Sprinkle rolls with Parmesan cheese.
Place the cheese mixture in the center of the skillet.
Bake for 17-20 minutes, until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese dip has melted. If the dough needs a little more time, place a sheet of aluminum foil over the rolls and continue to bake about 5 minutes, until cooked through.
Remove skillet from the oven and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
Sprinkle cheese dip with more Parmesan cheese and herbs as desired.
Notes
While testing this recipe, we made a delightful discovery. As the cheese dip is cooking, it melts on the bottom of the skillet and lightly browns, forming a cheesy crust under each roll. Delicious!Try other cheeses to suit your taste: mozzarella, fontina, provolone, and Muenster are also good for this dip.
