Notes
This is a great gluten-free meal. Most tater tots (such as Ore-Ida) are gluten free. Our favorite sausage is a combo of ½-pound hot, ½-pound maple. Give it a try!Placing tater tots on both the bottom and top of the casserole ensures a soft potato layer on the bottom and a crispy, crunchy potato layer on the top. Serve with ketchup, salsa, or chili sauce. This breakfast casserole can be prepared and baked right before serving, although allowing the tater tots to absorb the egg mixture for at least ½ hour is recommended. This recipe can be pre-baked, covered, and frozen. When preparing to bake, let casserole sit on the counter, uncovered, for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 325 degrees; COVER with foil and bake until warmed through, about 30 minutes.
