2cupsonions, chopped (white, yellow or sweet, such as Walla Walla)
2tablespoonsolive oil
1 1/4poundsfresh broccoli, chopped
3tablespoonscornstarch
White or brown rice
Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
Spray the inside of a slow cooker with cooking spray. Add beef broth or consommé, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and pepper. Whisk ingredients together.
Add meat and stir until all of the meat is coated.
Cover with lid and cook on low for 5-6 hours or until meat is tender.
One hour before serving, cook rice and set aside.
About 45 minutes before serving, sauté chopped onions in olive oil for 4-5 minutes in a large skillet on medium-high heat until onions are soft. Add broccoli and cook until broccoli is bright green, about 2 minutes. Set pan aside.
Remove 1/2 to 1 cup of liquid from slow cooker. Add cornstarch and whisk until smooth. Return liquid to the slow cooker and cook for 20-30 minutes on low.
Just before serving, add the onions and broccoli to the slow cooker.
Serve with cooked rice. Top with sesame seeds if desired.
