A few weeks ago, Grant and I went to CA to celebra

A few weeks ago, Grant and I went to CA to celebrate early Thanksgiving with our daughter @corrinestokoe and her family. We cooked dinner since she is on bedrest with her 5th baby and has to limit normal activities. I made extra stuffing and pie which we froze for Thanksgiving day later in the month. Neil planned to cook a turkey, our oldest granddaughter Ani volunteered to make mashed potatoes and Corrine placed an order from a local business to fill in the rest of the meal. I felt better knowing everything seemed to be in place for the 24th, and we had enjoyed a feast together even if it was a little early!

The 24th came and we were back home in Utah preparing dinner. I called to see how things were going with Corrine and asked if they had picked up the rest of the items to round out their Thanksgiving meal?

I was speechless at Corrine’s response. Her friend Amy went over right after I left town. She wanted to know what I had made and frozen, and what Neil planned to make for Corrine and the kids. Then she got out her pen and pad and made a list of what she would bring over on Thanksgiving day, even though she was already preparing food for her own family.

I had to hand the phone to Grant because this kind act of service touched my heart so deeply. I still can’t think about it without getting teary.

Food is my love language. And Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love gathering and making food for people I love this time of year. Words cannot express how I felt when I heard about the way Amy chose to minister to Corrine, Neil and their children♥️ it’s a Thanksgiving I will never forget 🙏🏼

My very favorite method for transferring dough from mat to the pie plate. I like to think of this as folding the same as you would laundry; in half, then half again. Unfold onto the filling. If you have properly floured the dough, it will be easy to handle and adjust if needed! Next up, fluting and finishing the top pastry🙌🏼
